Apple released iOS 27.2 beta 4 to developers, introducing a redesigned Apple Music app icon that drops color in favor of a white icon with black logo (black with white logo in dark mode). The update also changes the Music app's tab bar to blue for the active tab, switches widgets to black backgrounds, and removes color from Library section listings like Playlists and Albums.
Apple Music's familiar red app icon has reportedly been swapped for a monochrome black-and-white design in the iOS 27.2 beta, according to 9to5Mac. The eighth-note symbol also appears slightly sharper in angle, and widgets now use black backgrounds with a blue highlight marking the active tab in the app's interface.
A writer who contributed to The iOS App Icon Book shared a personal archive project: a single graphic compiling screenshots of the macOS Dock's design from early Mac OS X through recent macOS versions. The compilation draws on images sourced from the 512 Pixels site, and the author published a high-resolution version for preservation.
Android Authority found evidence in My Pixel app version 8.9.1 that Google is developing color-matched app icons for Pixel 9 devices, a feature already launched with the Pixel 11 series. The update currently covers several Pixel 9 color variants like Hazel, Rose Quartz, and Obsidian, but excludes the Pixel 9a, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and all Pixel 10 models. Testers were also unable to trigger the new icon on a Porcelain-colored Pixel 9.
