Google: 96.6% of top Android apps run fine on Intel-based Googlebooks

Google says that of its list of over 10,000 most-used Android apps, 96.6% run without issue on Intel-powered Googlebooks, meaning roughly 300 apps have problems. Google attributes most failures to apps lacking full large-screen support rather than chip incompatibility. The company also detailed that Intel Googlebooks use a binary translation layer converting 64-bit Arm code to native 64-bit x86_64 instructions, rather than legacy 32-bit emulation.

Chips and Cheese benchmarks Windows 11's Prism translator against native Arm code

A technical analysis compares Microsoft's Prism binary translator, which lets x86-64 Windows software run on Arm-based aarch64 processors, against native Geekbench 7 performance. Using a pro key from Primate Labs founder John Poole to profile individual workloads, the tester measures how much performance is lost when translating x86-64 instructions instead of running aarch64 code directly.
