Quake rewritten in safe Rust, now runs directly in web browsers
A developer has ported the original Quake engine to Rust, using memory-safe code rather than the game's original C codebase, and compiled it to run in a web browser. The port supports keyboard and mouse controls as well as gamepads, including original id Software joystick configurations, with adjustable mouse sensitivity to account for platform differences like macOS.
