Proton confirmed a major outage affecting Proton Mail, VPN, Calendar, Drive, Pass, SimpleLogin, Wallet and its Lumo AI assistant, first detected around 6:09 p.m. ET as Downdetector reports surged. The company said user data remained safe and later reported a fix had been implemented, restoring service for most users while recovery continued for others.
Notability launched a workflow that connects to users' calendars, letting them start recording meetings or lectures directly from a scheduled event on Mac and Windows. The app then merges the recording's transcript with any typed notes into a single document tied to that calendar entry, and captures system audio instead of requiring a bot to join the call.
A developer's blog post examines 35 Mac applications and finds that most of their 'File' menus contain almost nothing related to actual file management, instead housing app-specific actions like managing passwords, events, or chats. The author proposes renaming the menu in each app to better reflect its real function, such as 'Password' for 1Password or 'Event' for Calendar.
