Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery will rebrand as Skydance once their roughly $110 billion merger closes, expected October 6. The merged entity will house Paramount+, HBO Max, CBS, CNN, MTV and franchises like The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, DC and Yellowstone.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang told CBS he sees no chance of a catastrophic AI scenario unfolding by 2030, calling some AI industry leaders' warnings irresponsible and unnecessarily frightening to the public. He suggested that frontier AI labs pushing for new regulations may be doing so to sidestep accountability under existing laws.
Converting standard footage to 4K resolution requires generating new pixels to fill a larger frame, and there are two main approaches: traditional interpolation, which calculates new pixel values based on surrounding color and brightness data, and AI upscaling, which uses models trained on low- and high-resolution image pairs to predict sharper detail. Older interlaced footage adds another wrinkle, since it must be de-interlaced before either upscaling method can be applied properly.
