Amazon has discounted Apple's AirPods Pro 3 to $179, a $70 cut from the $249 list price, as an early Prime Day deal. The earbuds launched in September 2025 with upgraded noise cancelation, improved sound, Live Translation support for compatible iPhones, and high-definition audio recording for devices with the H2 chip.
A commentator highlights a recurring AirPods issue: debris or misalignment in the charging case can prevent one earbud from charging, leaving users with a dead AirPod mid-use. They note Apple already notifies users to charge AirPods when the iPhone is plugged in, but there's no alert specifically for when one AirPod fails to charge in its case.
Apple's new AirPods 5 launch at $129 for the standard model, adding active noise cancellation that was previously missing from the lineup. A $149 version bundles a Wireless Charging Case and extended battery life, making it the more compelling purchase for most buyers.
Apple has started taking preorders for its new AirPods 5 earbuds ahead of a September 18th launch, the same day as the Apple Watch Series 12, Ultra 4, and iPhone 18 Pro lineup. The lineup includes a $129 standard model that now includes active noise cancellation, a feature previously reserved for pricier variants, and a $149 upgraded version with wireless charging, longer battery life, and stem-based touch controls for volume.
Apple introduced the AirPods 5 with a wireless charging case at its recent event, pricing them roughly $30 below the ANC-equipped AirPods 4. Hands-on impressions suggest the newer earbuds outperform their predecessor across the board despite the lower cost.
