HP and Asus have reportedly moved portions of their PC manufacturing back to China after previously diversifying to countries like Thailand, Vietnam, and India, according to Nikkei Asia. Dell is said to be considering a similar move, as these companies look to curb rising component costs that have squeezed profit margins.
Bengaluru-based Scimplify has closed a $25 million all-equity strategic funding round led by Hitachi Ventures, with customers Henkel and Teknor Apex joining as new investors alongside existing backers Accel India, Bertelsmann India Investments, Omnivore and 3one4 Capital. The round reportedly values the startup at $250 million, up from $150 million after its March 2025 Series B, bringing total equity raised to $80 million.
Startup Modal Motors, founded by Michael Van Steenburg, is developing electric motors that avoid rare-earth magnets altogether, aiming to manufacture in the U.S. rather than rely on Chinese supply chains. The company is preparing two products—a small drone motor and a flat 'Hybrid Enigma Drive' motor—ahead of its appearance in Startup Battlefield 200 at TechCrunch Disrupt next month.
