Google announced that Gemini in Google Docs can now pull context directly from a user's Gemini Notebooks, letting the AI ground its writing in curated research. Users can type "@" in the Gemini panel to select a notebook, and Gemini will add inline citations when drafting so facts can be checked without switching tabs. The feature is rolling out to Business, Education, and Enterprise plan users, as well as Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.

A Science journal analysis of patent citations and publications found that Chinese companies placed on the US Entity List increased their reliance on scientific literature to drive innovation, compared with similar firms not sanctioned. These restricted companies filed more patents citing scientific research and published more scientific articles than their unsanctioned counterparts after being blacklisted.

An audit of Perplexity's Sonar and Sonar-Pro models tested 310 factual questions about 210 tech companies and checked every citation attached to a sentence containing a number. It found that 34.7% of 1,826 such citations linked to pages that either wouldn't load or didn't contain any of the figures stated in the sentence, though scoring by claim rather than by individual citation marker lowered the failure rate to 14.4% of 872 claims.
