TypeSafe's decision model drives Mac automation at fraction of Claude's cost

A new open-source tool called typesafe-computer-use lets a Mac execute plain-English goals by reading the screen state directly rather than sending screenshots to a large multimodal model. It uses a lightweight classifier from TypeSafe to pick the next action from a short list of options, only invoking a text-generation model when free-form input is actually required. The developers report costs near 1/50th of a cent per decision step, versus tens of cents per step for a comparable Claude Opus-based screenshot approach.

Developer releases open-source AI code comment classifier trained on public data

The author has rebuilt an AI-generated code comment detector, previously trained on private data with an unstable foundation, using only public data and a more solid architecture. The new tool runs entirely in the browser, processes pasted text locally without sending it to a server, and offers an interactive interface that highlights which text features drive its human-vs-robot judgment.

Falcons AI's NSFW image classifier hits 50.8M downloads on Hugging Face

A Fine-Tuned Vision Transformer model built by Ras Al Khaimah-based Falcons AI to detect NSFW images has been downloaded over 50.8 million times in 28 days on Hugging Face, placing it sixth among more than 1,400 hosted models. That download count dwarfs the 3.7 million recorded by Deepseek over the same period. Falcons AI also runs a broader open-source program and offers AI tools for business and government automation.

Perplexity adds Hybrid Compute privacy feature to its Mac app

Perplexity has rolled out Hybrid Compute in its Mac app, letting its Computer assistant start tasks in the cloud and shift sensitive steps, like those touching personal files, to a local model running on the Mac itself. An on-device classifier detects personal details such as names and account numbers, replaces them with placeholders before any cloud processing, and restores them once results return. The feature requires Apple silicon, macOS 15 or later, and at least 24GB of unified memory, with 32GB recommended, and uses no cloud credits or API key.
