Anthropic has opened Claude Code's cloud sessions—previously a research preview—to eligible Pro and Max subscribers, letting them run coding tasks on Anthropic's servers instead of their own machines. To encourage adoption, Pro users get $100 and Max users get $250 in promotional credits, claimable via Claude's website by October 7, with unused balances expiring November 4.
Anthropic released Claude Opus 5.5, which it says outperforms its predecessor Opus 5 while responding over 30% faster and costing about 40% less to run. The company also says it improved the model's communication style and added new safety safeguards, and it is raising usage limits for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers.
Anthropic has rebuilt the 'projects' concept inside Claude Code, giving cloud-based sessions persistent threads, shared memory, and the ability for Claude to coordinate multiple parallel work streams on its own. The upgrade is initially limited to select Pro and Max subscribers using cloud sessions who have no existing projects, while local, terminal-based workflows are excluded from the new system entirely.
A group of Claude users filed a class-action lawsuit against Anthropic on September 8, alleging the company misled subscribers about usage limits on its $100 and $200 Max plans. The suit contends Anthropic advertised 5x and 20x more usage than the Pro tier without disclosing that weekly caps, added months after Max launched in April 2025, sharply reduce the real benefit compared to the marketed multiplier.
