Borderline game data reveals 37,500 hand-drawn national border maps

An online geography game called Borderline has compiled roughly 37,500 crowd-sourced drawings of country borders and coastlines, aggregating them into a visual map that overlays every submitted outline against the real one. The project breaks results down by country, drawing type (land border, coastline, or daily challenge round), and includes median accuracy scores and error rates for each nation.

Developer Shares Shadertoy Technique for Fractal Voronoi Coastlines

A developer published a Shadertoy demo introducing a recursive variant of jittered Voronoi diagrams that produces fractal-like cell boundaries, similar in spirit to Worley noise. The method works by generating hierarchical layers of randomly jittered grid points, each finer layer tracing its 'parent' site in the coarser layer above, so that following parent links upward defines each cell's fractal boundary without needing to explicitly build a Voronoi diagram.
