Polymarket has reportedly held talks with the European Commission, ESMA and the UK's FCA to be regulated under MiFID financial rules rather than gambling law. The prediction-market platform hopes this reclassification would let it reverse bans imposed by Spain and France, which currently require it to hold a gambling license to operate.
Meta's Oversight Board issued decisions on two cases involving AI-generated videos of real people—one showing a Scottish politician making inflammatory remarks he never said, another mocking a menstrual health volunteer. In both instances, Meta failed to label the content as AI-generated and only acted after the Board intervened, despite user reports and appeals being automatically dismissed beforehand.
Microsoft has issued a code of conduct for its AI models that sets absolute limits on behavior, including bans on cyberattacks, nuclear weapons assistance and deepfake creation. The document also requires models to remain controllable by authorized humans at all times, prohibiting tactics like deception or collusion that could let an AI evade oversight or shutdown.
Conduct has released an open-source framework called Guard and a companion LLM proxy called Router that enforce a single policy across every AI agent action, from LLM calls to shell and MCP tool use. The system blocks, warns, audits, or injects rules before an action executes, using signed configuration packs and a SHA-256 hash-chained audit log to prevent tampering. A free 'Discovery' mode offers 14 days of read-only visibility into AI agent behavior before teams commit to enforcement.
