Apple's iOS 27 update brings changes to Focus mode, the feature that lets iPhone users control which notifications they receive during specific activities like work or sleep. Users can still activate modes via Control Center or customize settings under the Focus menu in Settings, but the update introduces refinements to how these modes function.
A bug in iOS 27 can temporarily freeze an iPhone when users quickly swipe down the Notification Center and Control Center in succession. Affected phones show icons stuck at the top of the screen and stop responding to taps or swipes, though the issue is not permanent.
A newly discovered bug in Apple's just-released iOS 27 lets users lock up their iPhone by rapidly swiping to open Notification Center and then Control Center in quick succession. The glitch freezes touch response and disables the power-off slider, and it has spread quickly on social media as a prank people are playing on friends' phones.
Apple's Control Center houses both Do Not Disturb and Focus modes, with Do Not Disturb actually functioning as one type of Focus alongside Personal, Work and Sleep options. Users can customize each Focus mode individually, choosing exactly which apps and contacts can send notifications while that mode is active. Setup happens through Settings > Focus, where filters, smart activation and time-sensitive notification exceptions can also be configured.
