Apple has introduced the M5 Ultra, its most powerful chip yet, by fusing two M5 Max dies into a single quad-die processor connected at 4.4TB/s. It offers up to 36 CPU cores, an 80-core GPU option, and support for up to 512GB of unified memory with 1.2TB/s bandwidth, arriving in new Mac Studio models starting at $5,499.
After AMD held all ten spots on Amazon's best-selling CPU list, two Intel chips have broken through: the newly released Core Ultra 7 270K Plus at #6 ($290) and the older Core i7-14700K at #9 ($312). The 270K Plus offers strong multi-core and single-core performance, trailing only AMD's $569 Ryzen 9 9950X3D among the top 10, while the 14700K remains popular for its compatibility with both older LGA 1700 boards and DDR4 memory.
