macOS 27 enables HDR at scaled 2560x1440 resolution on third-party displays
Apple's macOS 27 update fixes a limitation from macOS 26 Tahoe that prevented HDR from being enabled on third-party HDR10 monitors when using scaled resolutions like 2560 x 1440. Previously, users had to drop to native-doubled resolutions such as 1920 x 1080 to access HDR, sacrificing screen real estate on larger 4K displays. The fix was observed while testing Dell's 32-inch UltraSharp U3226Q OLED monitor.
