Diesel fuel prices in the United States have climbed to a record average of $6.53 per gallon, with some farm operators reporting a 77% jump in fueling costs for equipment like tractors. The spike has drawn widespread attention as a key driver of broader price pressures across the economy.
AAA reported the national average diesel price reached $6.05 a gallon on Friday, up from $5.85 the prior week and $3.70 a year ago, as the conflict between the U.S. and Iran disrupts global fuel supplies. Regular gasoline also rose to $4.29 a gallon, tracking a jump in both Brent and U.S. crude oil above $100 a barrel for the first time in months.
The national average price for diesel in the United States reached $6.05 per gallon on Friday, according to AAA, marking a more than 60% jump from $3.71 a year earlier. Gasoline also climbed to a national average of $4.29 a gallon, while California diesel prices hit $7.98 a gallon. GasBuddy data confirmed diesel had already exceeded the $6 threshold nationwide.
