Curtin University researchers develop method to trace 3D-printed PLA parts to source filament
A study published October 22 in Forensic Science International describes a forensic technique developed by Dr. Georgina Sauzier and colleagues at Curtin University, in collaboration with ChemCentre, that matches 3D-printed PLA objects back to their original filament. Using differential scanning calorimetry to measure thermal properties altered by printing, the method correctly matched 26 of 28 tested PLA samples to their source filament, down to brand and type.
