Guide warns buyers to check hardware compatibility before purchasing high-spec monitors

A new buying guide highlights that shoppers often overlook whether their existing PCs, laptops and cables can actually support a monitor's advertised resolution and refresh rate. It notes that older HDMI 1.4 ports cap out at 4K 30Hz, while HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.2 are needed for 4K at 60Hz, and that USB-C ports only carry video if they support DisplayPort or Thunderbolt. It also points out that many users don't need 4K or 5K displays at all, since 1080p suffices for office tasks.
