Amazon has cut the price of Anker's Prime Docking Station to $169.99, a $100 reduction from its $269.99 list price and a match of its previous lowest sale price. The 14-in-1 device merges a laptop dock with a charging hub, supporting dual monitors and up to 160W of combined power output.
USB-C hubs can substitute for docking stations by adding extra ports to a laptop, but they draw power and bandwidth directly from the host computer rather than a dedicated outlet or bus. This makes them less reliable for power-hungry or high-bandwidth devices like external SSDs, HD webcams, external GPUs, and multiple monitors.
