Distributed Proofreaders details volunteer workflow for Project Gutenberg e-books

Distributed Proofreaders runs a web platform that splits public-domain book scans into individual pages so multiple volunteers can proofread and format them simultaneously. Pages pass through several proofreading and formatting rounds, after which a post-processor assembles the finished text and submits it to Project Gutenberg. The site also invites volunteers to register, 'smooth read' pre-release e-books, manage projects, or help develop the platform itself.
