Tesla plans to formally introduce its steering-wheel-free Cybercab at an Austin event, adding 51 of the vehicles to its Texas ride-hail fleet alongside 263 Model Ys. The vehicle debuted as a prototype in 2024, and Tesla's driverless pilot has since expanded from Austin to parts of Texas and Florida, with permits pending in Arizona and Nevada.
Tesla has started offering public rides in its steering-wheel-free Cybercab as part of its Austin robotaxi service, nearly two years after the vehicle was first unveiled. The vehicle relies on a modified version of Tesla's Full Self-Driving software, monitored remotely, rather than the sensor suites—like lidar—used by competitors.
A group calling itself Operation Bluebird has launched Twitter.now, a social platform that resurrects the old Twitter name and bird logo with some modifications. The founders argue that Elon Musk effectively abandoned the Twitter brand when he renamed the service X, leaving the identity open to reclaim.
Elon Musk launched Grok in November 2023 through his AI startup xAI as a sarcastic rival to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, initially limited to paying X subscribers. The tool has since spread to grok.com, dedicated iOS and Android apps and select Tesla vehicles, gaining reasoning models, voice chat, image and video generation, coding features and autonomous agents along the way. SpaceX absorbed xAI in February, and the newest version, Grok 4.6, arrived in August targeting coding and complex agent-based tasks.
Elon Musk announced on X that SpaceX will begin manufacturing turbine blades and vanes internally to increase production of natural gas turbine generators used to power AI data centers. The move addresses a supply bottleneck as data center operators increasingly rely on portable gas turbines to bypass slow grid connections, with blade casting alone typically taking 60 to 90 weeks per batch. Musk said SpaceX and Tesla are also each targeting 100GW/year of solar capacity, but gas turbines remain necessary to bridge power needs in the near term.
OpenAI said it will stop supplying its AI models to coding startup Cursor, effective Nov. 12, 2026, after SpaceX completed a $60 billion acquisition of Cursor earlier this month. Cursor CEO Michael Truell said OpenAI models handle about 5% of Cursor's user traffic and that talks are underway to resolve the dispute.
OpenAI announced it will end Cursor's access to its AI models by November 12, 2026, following SpaceXAI's acquisition of the coding assistant. The company said Cursor may set an earlier cutoff date if it prefers, but OpenAI will not extend access beyond that deadline.
Operation Bluebird, led by former Twitter legal counsel Stephen Coates, has launched a new social platform at Twitter.now featuring a blue design and bird logo reminiscent of the original Twitter. The launch comes even as a federal judge in Delaware has yet to rule on Elon Musk's request for an injunction in his trademark lawsuit against the group. Coates argues that Musk abandoned the Twitter name and bird logo when he rebranded the company to X in 2022.
About 1,600 GSA employees moved from their F Street office to the Theodore Roosevelt Federal Building are describing deteriorating conditions, including a caved-in bathroom ceiling, mouse traps, and tap water that must run several seconds before turning clear. The relocation follows sweeping cuts and restructuring at GSA under DOGE, which has also pushed federal workers back into offices while shedding staff and selling off buildings. X has rolled out a new feed called NFL Gametime, sitting alongside the For You and Following tabs, offering real-time scores, play-by-play data, league news and creator commentary. The feed is live now and will run through the 2027 Super Bowl, built around a static GameTime hub for tracking games.
