A Reddit user on r/pcmasterrace posted photos of two abandoned crypto mining rigs found in a basement, containing a dozen Zotac RTX 3070 graphics cards along with DDR4 memory, SSDs, power supplies and MSI Z390 motherboards. The rigs had been used for Ethereum mining during the pandemic and sat unused after home mining stopped being profitable, with the owner giving them away once asked.

Reddit user finds abandoned mining rig with 12 Zotac RTX 3070 GPUs intact

A Reddit user acquired two old cryptocurrency mining rigs left in a basement, containing a total of 12 Zotac RTX 3070 graphics cards along with an MSI motherboard, a 1000W power supply, RAM and SSDs. Despite years of storage, the hardware showed only minor wear, including some silicone bleeding from aging thermal pads, but appeared largely salvageable.

Cronos blockchain back online after $74M Tectonic lending exploit

An attacker manipulated the price of Tectonic's TONIC token by 100x in just 20 minutes, using the inflated collateral to borrow $74 million on the Cronos network. Only about $6 million in Ethereum was actually withdrawn before Cronos halted the chain, with the remainder of the funds left stranded. Cronos validators froze operations, rolled back the chain state to before the exploit, and resumed block production hours later.

Hobbyist unlocks all 40 compute units on discounted ASRock BC-250 mining cards

A hobbyist bought two ASRock BC-250 mining cards from AliExpress for £126 and £103 respectively, and successfully unlocked all 40 compute units on both despite AMD's binning meant to disable some cores. One card also unlocked all 8 CPU cores, while the other had one faulty core, but both performed well running the gpt-oss-20b language model via llama.cpp, hitting up to 100 tokens per second at 8K context.
