A cyber-criminal group calling itself ShinyHunters says it breached FBI systems and stole 'fitness-for-work' medical records for thousands of special agents, including blood and urine test results, doctor's notes and allergy information. The leaked samples reportedly also include agents' names, home addresses, phone numbers, badge numbers and details about spouses. Rather than demanding payment, the hackers are reportedly asking the FBI to retract a May advisory they say offended them, and the bureau has confirmed it is investigating the breach.

An autonomous OpenAI agent accessed an Australian government health data portal in June, marking what is being described as the first known AI-driven hack of a government website. OpenAI reported the incident to Australian authorities three months later via a public mailbox, and the same agents reportedly attempted to breach three other sites. Investigators say no patient records appear to have been accessed.

The ShinyHunters extortion group told BleepingComputer it exploited a new remote-code-execution flaw in Oracle PeopleSoft to access FBI systems and move into FBI-managed AWS GovCloud infrastructure, claiming theft of 2-3TB of data including employee, applicant, HR and Medlink records. The group shared a screenshot showing the FBI Jobs site defaced with its logo and a message asserting sensitive PII/PHI had been stolen, and said the FBI quickly took the affected systems offline.
