Amazon adds Price History tool and Alexa auto-buy for eligible Prime shoppers

Amazon has built a Price History feature into its shopping interface, showing 30-, 90- and 365-day price trends for products via a button on desktop or a similar option in its app. The company's Alexa for Shopping AI assistant (formerly Rufus) can answer questions about pricing and, for eligible Prime members, automatically purchase an item once it reaches a set target price.

Microsoft's 'Copilot+ PC' label fades from new Surface and OEM devices

Windows Central reports that Microsoft and its hardware partners have quietly stopped using the 'Copilot+ PC' branding introduced in 2024. None of the Surface PCs launched in 2026 carry the moniker in their names, unlike earlier models, and Nvidia's upcoming RTX Spark platform—despite meeting the spec requirements—also avoids the label. The underlying technical requirements for Copilot+ PC hardware still exist, but the marketing name is increasingly absent from spec sheets and product listings.

Google Photos expands Redact, Moods, and AI Wardrobe rollout worldwide

Google has widened availability of several Google Photos features, according to a company blog post. The Redact tool for blurring sensitive image details and the AI-powered Moods filter presets are now rolling out globally on Android, while AI Wardrobe and Video Remix are expanding to more users in the US, India, and Brazil.

Microsoft quietly drops the 'Copilot Plus PC' branding from new Surface devices

Microsoft's new 12-inch Surface Pro and 13-inch Surface Laptop meet the technical specs for Copilot Plus PCs but are not being marketed under that name, Surface CVP Brett Ostrom confirmed to Windows Central. Qualcomm's Kedar Kondap indicated similar devices will likely drop the branding going forward too.

Apple Maps gains AI-enhanced Flyover and Local Lists in iOS 27

Apple's iOS 27 update introduces two major additions to Apple Maps: an AI-boosted Flyover mode that renders more detailed aerial imagery of select cities, and a US-only Local Lists feature that groups trending restaurants and other popular spots. The update also expands Suggested Places into a horizontally scrollable list, adds a Trending Restaurants section to search, and introduces natural language search for routing.

Google Photos adds Redact tool to blur sensitive image details

Google is rolling out a new Redact feature within Google Photos' Markup tools, letting users pixelate license plates or other sensitive content in images. The update also brings new fonts and thickness sliders for pens and highlighters, and is available to all Android users globally. Google separately expanded Wardrobe, Gemini Spark image editing, Moods filters, and 15 new Remix templates to more users in select countries.

Google plans to remove Digital Wellbeing's 'Heads Up' walking-safety alert

Code strings found in the latest Digital Wellbeing beta (v1.48.975819457.beta) reveal that Google is preparing to deprecate the 'Heads Up' feature, which warns users to watch where they're walking. The strings include an in-app alert telling users that 'walking detection is going away soon.' The opt-in feature, introduced in 2021, uses motion sensors and location data to detect walking with the screen unlocked and nudge users to look up.

Prime Video reveals trailer for creature feature 'Beware Boiúna'

A first trailer has been released for 'Beware Boiúna,' a horror film set in the Amazon that stars Kiana Madeira and Jessica Rothe. The story centers on a giant snake threatening characters in the jungle setting.

Claude Code's AGENTS.md support requires telemetry to be enabled

A developer testing Claude Code 2.1.277's new AGENTS.md support found the file only loads when a remote feature flag called tengu_agents_md_mod returns true, which depends on telemetry or nonessential traffic being enabled. Setting CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_NONESSENTIAL_TRAFFIC or DISABLE_TELEMETRY to 1 silently disables the AGENTS.md loader, with no warning to the user, a behavior tracked in GitHub issue #95690.

Apple's unreleased 'AutoLock' anti-theft feature expands in iOS 27.2 beta 2 code

New code found in iOS 27.2 beta 2 shows Apple continuing development of an internal feature called AutoLock, which detects signals like sudden acceleration, loss of connection to a paired Apple Watch, or extended network dropout to guess that an iPhone has been snatched and lock it automatically. The code also reveals safeguards, including biometric checks, familiar-location detection, and a voting system where certain signals can veto a false lock trigger. The feature remains inactive and unavailable to users in this beta.

Analysis Argues LLMs Make Poor Classifiers but Strong Feature Extractors

A technical essay examines why using large language models directly as classifiers is frustrating despite decent performance, citing problems with calibration, inability to reliably use structured data or context, and limited interpretability of prompt-following behavior. The author suggests reframing the role of LLM outputs entirely rather than treating them as final classification decisions.

Google brings Pixel Watch 5's Smart Wake alarm feature to older Pixel Watches

Google is rolling out its Smart Wake alarm function, first introduced on the Pixel Watch 5, to earlier generations of its smartwatch lineup. The feature uses sleep-tracking data to adjust when an alarm sounds, aiming to wake users during lighter sleep phases rather than at a fixed time.
