LayerFS introduces auto-checkpointing filesystem for AI coding agents

LayerFS is a filesystem designed for AI coding agents that automatically creates a checkpoint at every step an agent takes. Each file operation is recorded as a commit, and each Bash command commits once it finishes executing. Calls that make no changes do not generate a commit, avoiding unnecessary history noise.

Unofficial FUSE tool lets Linux users mount Proton Drive as a local folder

A developer has released an open-source, unofficial FUSE-based filesystem that mounts Proton Drive directly into the Linux file system. The tool lists files via Proton's metadata and downloads file content on demand rather than syncing everything upfront, with remote changes propagated through Proton's event feed and local writes buffered before upload. The project is not affiliated with or supported by Proton AG, and the creator describes it as early-stage software that has only been tested on one Proton Drive share.

Tcl/Tk 9.1.0 released with Unicode, accessibility and timer additions

The Tcl/Tk development team has released version 9.1.0, dated September 29, 2026, building on the Tcl/Tk 9.0 foundation. The update adds new commands such as unicode, timer, lfilter and interp set, plus C99 math functions, 64-bit size support, and macOS filesystem case-insensitivity handling. Tk 9.1 introduces accessibility screen reader support, initial bidirectional/RTL text handling, a new ttk::toggleswitch widget, and improved Aqua send command behavior.

Meta confirms Muse's exposed filesystem access is intentional, not a bug

After users discovered yesterday that Meta's Muse AI chatbot would reveal its underlying filesystem when prompted, Meta executives clarified this was deliberate design rather than a leak. Meta Superintelligence Labs' David Singleton said each Muse session runs on a genuine cloud-based Linux virtual machine users can operate freely, and the product now offers a clickable file browser with root access instead of yesterday's more limited text-file download.

Meta's Muse AI agent exported 6.8GB of its own filesystem, including SSH keys

A researcher asked Meta's Muse assistant to archive files it could access and send them to Google Drive, and it complied, delivering a 2.7GB compressed (6.8GB unpacked) package. The archive contained the underlying Linux root filesystem, Ubuntu system files, internal documentation, integration code, memory logs, and SSH key files from the runtime environment codenamed 'Hatch.' The researcher reported the issue through Meta's bug bounty program and is withholding the archive, keys, and logs from publication.

OpenBSD gets early experimental port of Plan 9's GEFS filesystem

Developer ori has released a very early, buggy preview of GEFS—a crash-safe, snapshotting, copy-on-write filesystem originally built for Plan 9's 9front—running on OpenBSD. The port, under 9,000 lines of kernel code, is not intended for production use, with data loss expected especially during error conditions, and is not being proposed for inclusion in the OpenBSD tree yet.
