Firenook launches as Rust-based alternative to Firebase emulators
A new open-source tool called Firenook reimplements Firebase's local emulators (Firestore, Auth and Storage) in Rust, claiming 40x faster writes and 10x lower memory use than the official Node-based emulator. It supports a --keep-data flag that restores datasets, including those with millions of documents, in about half a second without manual export/import steps.
