Researcher Replicates Tissue-Transparency Trick Using Tartrazine Dye on Chicken Breast

An independent experimenter, inspired by a colleague's suggestion, attempted to replicate a published method for making biological tissue transparent using tartrazine, the yellow-orange dye found in Doritos. Using a weaker 0.19 M solution at room temperature instead of the original paper's 0.62 M at 40°C with mechanical shaking, they achieved partial transparency in a 2mm chicken breast slice, visible as grid lines showing through the sample compared to a water-soaked control.
