Haugen doubts AI firms will honor White House safety pledge's spirit
Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen said AI companies must genuinely comply with the spirit, not just the letter, of a voluntary safety agreement signed recently by Mark Zuckerberg and other tech CEOs at the White House. She warned companies historically follow only the literal wording of such commitments while finding loopholes in flexible systems. Haugen also credited Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's push for independent auditors as a sign of awareness that companies may cut corners when given room to do so.
