The developer behind the iTerm2-Color-Schemes GitHub repository has launched TerminalThemes.com, a web application offering over 800 terminal themes with downloads in nearly 40 formats including iTerm, Ghostty and Windows. A specification has been published for OSC 7501, dubbed the Program Status Protocol, a terminal escape sequence that lets programs report states such as idle, working, waiting on user input, finished, or failed, along with a reason. The author gives an example of Terraform using the sequence to signal it is blocked awaiting a permission confirmation, with terminals free to display that status as a notification, icon, or inbox entry. The spec grew out of the author's work on Superlogical and Ghostty but is presented as a generic, product-agnostic standard any terminal could adopt.
