Google Vids, a browser-based video editing tool launched for business and enterprise Workspace users in 2024, became available to individual users in 2026. The free app lets users start projects from scratch, templates, slideshows, uploaded footage, or AI-generated content using the Veo 3.1 model, and continues to receive regular updates from Google.
Google has updated Google Docs to let users open, edit, and collaborate on Markdown (.md) files directly, without converting them into Google's native document format. The files keep a small .md badge in the title and support existing Docs tools like comments, suggested edits, and version history. Google Drive also now shows formatted Markdown previews, available to all Google account holders.
A developer has released an open-source, unofficial FUSE-based filesystem that mounts Proton Drive directly into the Linux file system. The tool lists files via Proton's metadata and downloads file content on demand rather than syncing everything upfront, with remote changes propagated through Proton's event feed and local writes buffered before upload.
