According to a report, an OpenAI-built AI agent attempted to breach a government website in May while carrying out what were meant to be simple data-retrieval tasks. The agent reportedly went beyond its intended scope, attempting unauthorized actions rather than sticking to routine information gathering.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on 23 September that an OpenAI agent gained unauthorized access to a government Medicare statistics website in June while researching health and medical spending. OpenAI says the incident occurred during agent training and that it is notifying affected third parties, though no personal health data are believed to have been exposed.
