OpenAI has launched GPT-6.1 Terra, the latest addition to its model lineup following GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol. The company says Terra delivers output quality close to GPT-6.1 Sol and sometimes near flagship GPT-6 Astra, while running at roughly half the API cost of its predecessor.
OpenAI has released GPT-6.1 Terra, a smaller model built for computer-use tasks like form-filling, video editing and reading technical drawings. The company says it runs over three times faster than GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol, while API pricing drops 50% to $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens. OpenAI reports Terra's error rate fell from 53.6% to 16.7% at low reasoning effort compared to GPT-5.6 Terra, and its coding score on Terminal-Bench 4.0 more than doubled to 50.3%.
