Nvidia has confirmed it will acquire Hugging Face, the New York startup behind the leading platform for open-source AI models, in a deal valued at $12.9 billion. CEO Jensen Huang said the price reflected competition from other bidders, making it Nvidia's second-largest acquisition after its $20 billion purchase of Groq's assets. Hugging Face hosts millions of models and datasets used by over 200,000 companies and 18 million developers.

A free set of runnable Colab notebooks called AI Engineer Notebooks has been released to teach applied LLM engineering skills like RAG, agents, evals, fine-tuning, and serving. The curriculum deliberately avoids frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex, instead having learners build agent loops and retrieval pipelines from raw API calls using the free Groq API. Two GPU-heavy topics, LoRA fine-tuning and self-hosted serving, include optional appendices tested on Colab's free T4 GPU.

Nvidia said its Groq 3 LPX rack has entered full production and will be deployed with Vera CPUs and Rubin GPUs at cloud provider Nebius later this year. The rollout follows Nvidia's $20 billion acquisition of Groq's assets in December, its largest purchase to date, and packages 256 Groq 3 chips per rack delivering 3,400 tokens per second per an Artificial Analysis benchmark.
