University of Bath graduates fly 3D-printed jet-turbine RC plane, the Kingfisher

A team calling itself the Mach Initiative, made up of University of Bath graduates, has completed the maiden flight of the Kingfisher, a roughly one-meter RC aircraft built mostly from 3D-printed PETG and PET-CF with an aluminum skeleton. The plane is powered by a Jetcat P60 miniature jet turbine producing 63 N·m of thrust and reaching about 205 mph, following an earlier electric-fan prototype called the Kinglet used to test the design.

RhinoShield's AirX case sets Guinness record after 100,000-foot iPhone drop

RhinoShield and Sent Into Space sent an iPhone 17 Pro fitted with RhinoShield's AirX case up on a high-altitude balloon from Kiruna, Sweden, then released it from over 30,600 meters. After a 25-minute fall through temperatures as low as minus 60 degrees Celsius, the phone landed intact in remote terrain and was later recovered, powered on, and used to make calls and take photos. Guinness World Records confirmed the feat as the highest drop of a phone in a case onto natural landforms.
