Volunteer networks organize ICE-watch patrols near polling sites ahead of midterms

Community groups in Columbus, Ohio and other U.S. cities are deploying trained volunteers to monitor and report ICE activity near polling locations ahead of the midterm elections. In Columbus, organizer Liliana Rivera Baiman says dozens of volunteers already patrol near early voting sites, with numbers expected to reach about 250 on Election Day, communicating sightings through Signal and WhatsApp groups. The effort follows ICE's Operation Buckeye last December, which targeted the city's Somali American community near a polling site.
