Dave Wehner, Meta's chief strategy officer and former CFO, is leaving after 14 years to join Fireworks AI as chief financial officer. Fireworks, a four-year-old AI inference and model-training platform, was valued at $17.5 billion in a July Series D round backed by Nvidia, Sequoia and others.
The UK government released a batch of cybersecurity policy papers on Nov. 3, including an annual assessment from the National Cyber Security Centre stating it is 'highly likely' AI-powered malware will be used in a ransomware attack on UK critical national infrastructure by 2028. The NCSC also said nation-states including China and Russia will likely routinely use AI-driven cyber tools to pursue geopolitical goals in the UK. Nvidia has launched NVKE, a managed Kubernetes management plane that platform teams can install on their own Nvidia GPU infrastructure to create and operate workload clusters for customers. The product is available as a preview, meaning its APIs, configuration and behavior may change and Nvidia does not recommend it for production use. Installation currently requires Nvidia Infra Controller (NICo) as the sole compatible infrastructure provider, alongside a local quickstart option for evaluation without GPU hardware.
OpenAI has published a National Community Compact and Compute Campus Policy Blueprint outlining commitments for every future compute campus it builds. The company pledges to pay full energy and infrastructure costs, provide financial assurances to other utility customers, publish water and noise impact data, avoid NDAs with public officials, and report annually on local hiring and investment.
Binance disclosed that attackers spent months preparing an Oct. 29 breach that netted $6.34 billion in crypto, starting with a tampered software installation downloaded by a wallet DevOps engineer in June.
