Apple is distributing $250 million to settle claims that it advertised AI-enhanced Siri features that were never actually delivered. Owners of iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model purchased between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025 in the US can now file for a payout through the settlement website.
Apple has released iOS 27, extending general software updates to devices as old as the iPhone 11. However, the headline feature—an AI-enhanced version of Siri—is restricted to the iPhone 15 Pro and newer models, likely due to processing demands of on-device AI.
Apple is overhauling Siri into 'Siri AI' with the iOS 27 update, giving it the ability to index texts, emails, calendars, and photos directly on the device to answer personal questions in natural language. The assistant can also read and respond to whatever is currently on screen, such as summarizing a webpage in Safari, without needing a screenshot first. These features require the processing power of an iPhone 15 Pro or newer.
