At IFA Berlin, iRobot demonstrated a prototype called the Roomba Duo, a wet-cleaning robot mothership that carries a smaller Roomba vacuum and lowers it onto the floor using a mechanical arm. In the demo, the main unit cleaned a spaghetti spill with steam and suction, then deployed the smaller robot to reach narrow spaces and corners it couldn't access. iRobot's chief engineer Adam Pope said the device is currently just a concept exploring ways to combine heavy-duty wet cleaning with nimble vacuuming.
