Google opens SynthID Detector website to all users worldwide

Google has made its SynthID Detector portal, hosted at synthid.com, publicly available after limiting it to select testers for over a year. The tool lets anyone upload a photo, video, or audio file to check for AI-generated watermarks, and can identify SynthID signatures from Google, OpenAI, NVIDIA, and Kakao, with Apple support planned. Users can sign in with a Google, Apple, or OpenAI account to use the service.

South Korea to launch free nationwide AI service via three telecom-led consortia

South Korea's government will roll out a free generative AI program called 'AI for All' starting with beta testing in September, expanding to the whole population later this year. Three consortia, including groups led by the nation's top telecom carriers and Kakao's operator, will build apps that connect to government systems for tasks like booking medical appointments, apartment hunting, and tax filing, with no token limits on usage.
