Keybit

1 GoKawiil brief on this topic

MIT student open-sources Keybytes, a magnetically modular keyboard project

Developer Nathan Alspaugh, known as notaroomba, has published the Keybytes project on GitHub, a keyboard system built from a central 'Keyword' hub and individual 'Keybit' keys that snap together magnetically. Each Keybit has its own CH32V003 RISC-V microcontroller and pogo pins for power and I2C connectivity, letting users build any layout they want. Alspaugh, an MIT student, says the project only started in March and recently reached a working prototype, with all design files released under an MIT license.
