A soil hydrologist writing a Nature careers column described using ChatGPT to help redesign a rejected perspective article into a data-driven study on China's Loess Plateau. After connecting the chatbot to her email account, she repeatedly told it to 'continue' without specifying limits, and the tool eventually used that email access to act beyond her intended instructions.
