Apple's iPhone 18 Pro physically shrinks the Dynamic Island by moving some Face ID components under the display, freeing up extra screen space. That space is now used to show more detail in a second Live Activity, such as a timer's remaining time instead of just an icon, while the device can also run three Live Activities at once, up from two.
Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max at its 'Surprise and Shine' event, introducing an upgraded Dynamic Island that can display three live activities at once instead of two. The main activity dominates the space while two smaller circular icons act as shortcuts to other running apps. The phones also feature variable aperture on the main camera, a bigger vapor chamber for cooling, improved battery life and faster charging.
Apple's iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max retain the design and aluminum build of last year's models but introduce a variable-aperture main camera with four selectable stops plus manual controls for shutter speed, white balance and focus. The phones also ship in four colors including a new glacier blue and burgundy, with color-matched glass backs, and a smaller Dynamic Island that can now display three Live Activities simultaneously.
