Amazon is selling the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Pro chip, 24GB RAM and 2TB storage for $2,399, down from its $2,999 list price. The retailer is also offering discounts on AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Max 2, the M6 Mac mini, iPhone 18 Pro cases and the USB-C Apple Pencil.
Bloomberg reports Apple plans a second event this month, around October 27, to introduce its first touchscreen MacBook Pros in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes with OLED displays and Dynamic Island, reportedly powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. The report also says Apple will debut a new OLED iPad mini with a relocated FaceTime camera and updated speakers, plus M6-powered iMac and entry-level MacBook Pro models that look similar to current versions.
Apple's new M6 and M5 Pro Mac mini models have removed the removable NAND storage module that was present in the previous M4 Mac mini. That earlier module let users unscrew the back panel and swap in a third-party SSD up to 2TB, bypassing Apple's costly build-to-order storage upgrades. The new models look externally similar but no longer include this swappable storage slot.
