Meta has released Muse, a personal AI agent designed to work independently once given a goal, handling tasks like drafting emails, organizing saved content, building grocery lists and booking travel. Unlike Meta's existing AI assistant, Muse can connect to third-party services such as Google Workspace, Spotify, Ticketmaster and Apple Health, and can even build its own integrations when a public API exists.
A Tech Transparency Project investigation found Meta took days to pull hundreds of Facebook and Instagram ads promoting AI apps that generated child sexual abuse material, some using real photos of children including a European royal and a preteen social media influencer. The ads, mostly linked to Chinese-made AI and 'nudify' apps, digitally altered images of children into sexually explicit videos and used explicit captions to lure users.
Meta is rolling out a redesigned insights panel for Threads that uses AI to summarize how individual posts and overall accounts are performing, comparing metrics like views, likes and reposts to a user's recent activity.
