Orionid Meteor Shower from Halley's Comet Debris Peaks This Week

The Orionid meteor shower, created by debris left behind by Halley's Comet, is set to peak overnight Wednesday into Thursday. NASA notes the display will be partially washed out by a moon that is about 77 percent full, and recommends viewing after moonset, around 3:30 AM EST, for the best visibility.

Orionid Meteor Shower Peaks October 21-22

The Orionid meteor shower, caused by debris from Halley's Comet, will peak between dusk on October 21 and dawn on October 22, with up to 20 meteors visible per hour in dark skies. The shower began earlier this month and continues through November 7, though a roughly three-quarter full moon may wash out some fainter meteors.
