A study by Austrian battery-analysis firm Aviloo, based on over 500,000 tests across 20 popular EV models including Tesla's Model Y and Volkswagen's ID.4, found median battery health ranging from 87 to 94 percent after 150,000 kilometers of use. The research found degradation levels between 91-97 percent at 50,000km and 88-95 percent at 100,000km, though rates varied widely depending on climate, battery size and driving habits.
Tesla has expanded its driverless robotaxi service beyond the Model Y to include the Cybercab, a two-seat vehicle featuring butterfly doors, touchscreens, and no steering wheel. A promotional video for the new vehicle went viral, but drew backlash from disability advocates who say its design overlooks accessibility needs.
Tesla began limited commercial Cybercab service in Austin, Texas, using vehicles that lack a steering wheel, pedals or mirrors. Shortly after launch, the NHTSA opened an audit query covering roughly 1,000 vehicles to review how Tesla self-certified the Cybercab as compliant with federal safety standards.
China's State Administration for Market Regulation has recalled nearly three million Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, saying interior emergency door handles blend into cabin trim and are hard to find in a crash. Tesla must add warning labels and push an over-the-air update that lowers windows automatically after collisions. A separate recall was issued for almost 400,000 Xiaomi SU7 EVs over the same concern.
