EVgo unveils 750kW charging system, targets 2027 rollout

EVgo has announced a new 750-kilowatt fast-charging system that could recharge compatible EVs in about 10 minutes, with full deployment expected in 2027. The stations will use Tesla's North American Charging Standard, letting NACS-equipped vehicles charge without an adapter, while CCS-plug EVs will still need one.

Ionna EV charging network surpasses 180 sites, over 1,500 ports across US

Ionna, the automaker-backed EV fast-charging joint venture founded by BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis and Toyota, says it has more than doubled its footprint since early 2026 to over 180 stations with 1,500-plus charging ports in 30 states. The company says every site offers both CCS and NACS plugs at 400-kilowatt charging speeds, and it claims to be the largest 400 kW fast-charging network in the US. CEO Seth Cutler discussed the expansion and upcoming features in an interview.

Hyundai's Ioniq 5 still impresses in 2026, but rivals have caught up

Ars Technica revisited the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5, testing an AWD Limited trim with an 84 kWh battery, NACS charging port, and 320 hp output following the car's early 2025 refresh. The reviewer found the retro styling and fast-charging capability still hold up well five years after launch, though the AWD version's range drops to 269 miles compared to 318 miles for the rear-wheel-drive model.

Slate Truck to launch as US-only vehicle, no international sales planned yet

Slate, the young EV startup backed by roughly $1.4 billion in funding including from Jeff Bezos' family office, is building its truck exclusively for the US market at launch. The company will sell direct-to-consumer, manufacture in a converted Indiana plant, rely on RepairPal for servicing, and give every truck NACS access to Tesla Superchargers—all within US borders. Slate has not said whether tariffs influenced this decision or when it might expand to Canada or other countries.
