A jury convicted Ohio political blogger DJ Byrnes of telecommunications harassment for sending state Sen. Jerry Cirino a nude image of Shrek along with an insulting message after Cirino dropped out of the state's Senate race. A judge ordered Byrnes, who runs the blog The Rooster, to pay a $200 fine. Byrnes had pleaded not guilty, arguing the text was protected free speech, but was arrested in June and briefly jailed despite posting bail.
