CSS-Tricks, the web development site DigitalOcean acquired in 2022 and briefly revived in mid-2024 under editor Geoff Graham, has gone inactive again with no explanation from its owner. Meanwhile, DigitalOcean quickly arranged a $3 million donation to Omarchy, a set of Arch Linux scripts led by David Heinemeier Hansson, and has also stopped small monthly payments to GNOME and Flathub infrastructure.

Omarchy is a Linux distribution built on Arch that automates installation and configuration while integrating multiple AI coding agents such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot CLI, and Grok CLI directly into the desktop. Users can pick a default agent to debug system issues, tweak settings, or build apps and themes, and can also run local models via LM Studio or Ollama. It targets developers on modern x86-64 hardware, though it can run on older machines too.

The report argues these are not obscure edge cases but well-known classes of input-handling flaws that mature software practices routinely prevent, and suggests some scripts may have been AI-generated without proper review.
DHH describes his Omacom project, including the Omarchy setup, as an application of 'omakase computing' — curated, chef's-choice defaults rather than requiring users to configure every tool themselves. He argues this borrows the same philosophy behind Ruby on Rails, letting newcomers get a cohesive experience while still allowing tinkering once they gain expertise.
