Hironobu Suzuki, author of the long-running documentation project 'The Internals of PostgreSQL,' has announced he is available for new work after recovering from a health-related stay in Japan. He says he is seeking PostgreSQL-related roles in Europe, the Southern Hemisphere or Southeast Asia, either with visa sponsorship or as remote digital-nomad work. Enterprise Linux provider SUSE plans to lay off about one in ten of its roughly 2,000 employees, according to reporting from The Register. CEO Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen told staff in an email that AI's rapid advancement means the company's current organizational structure and cost base can no longer sustain its future growth.

A new open-source robotics project called Stringman introduces a room-scale gripper robot that uses clip-on fiducial tags to identify drop-off points like laundry bins, toy boxes, and trash cans. Users tag destinations rather than individual clutter items, and can mark objects as off-limits or use tags as source and destination markers for tasks like item-ferrying between robot arms or laundry stations.
Nvidia has launched Auto Ontology, an open-source library under the Apache License 2.0 that builds a context layer from enterprise metadata to help AI agents interpret data accurately. The tool reconciles differing data definitions across systems, generates knowledge graphs, and translates natural-language questions into SQL queries using NVIDIA NIM.
